Description

Early in the morning of October 13th I took the chance to shoot Mars at it's opposition 2020.

>>>>>> For a 3D-cross-eyed version -> see version M <<<<<<<<<

Initially, I intended to use my C8 but it turned out that I have to collimate the instrument.

So, I switched to my TS 115/800 Photoline refractor (4.5"), added a GWK-1.8-Barlow and a 17mm Ploessl eyepiece for projection - resulting in an equivalent focal lenght of arround 6000mm (f/52).

Since I own no planetary camera, I used my Canon C100 camera which shows good low-light performance. The seeing was not bad and I am happy with the result so far (for a 4.5" telescope). Maybe I can get further improvements by choosing other fragments of my footage and/or with other settings in the RegiStax wavelet tool.

I am still new in the planetary photography workflow, so I expect an improvement of my hardware and software handling skills :-)

Next time I will try to use my C8 (after collimation).

Description: When you apply a cross-eyed view on this image - the right eye views to the left Mars, the left eye views to the right Mars - you get a three dimensional impression of the planet.
I added a few artificial stars to improve the 3D effect.
